Thank God Incubus decided to release a greatest hits album. Without it I wouldn't have been reintroduced to one of the best bands ever! I watched The Monuments & Melodies documentary on Fuse and was pleasantly surprised to hear many songs that I had loved in the past. Songs that took me back to a time when things were uncomplicated, when life was just this huge open door with endless possiblities...... a playground if you will. A time unmarred by the harsh reality of adult responsibility. Their early songs are an ode to my youth.
So I ran out the very next day and bought the album which runs on a continous loop in my car and at home. Without this album I wouldn't have discovered the vast array of awesome music they have created over the years. They are phenomenal. Their lyrics are amazing..... honest.... wise...... celebratory.....tender.....and at times full of a longing you can feel in the pit of your stomach. Songs full of life lessons some of us have learned and some of us have yet to experience.
Bless them for their talent and willingness to share a piece of themselves with us through their music. The world is surely a better place when one can emerce themselves in their sound, and in their lyrics. At least it is for me.
I am completely stoked that I scored tickets for the Aug 5th concert @ Radio City. I can't wait....my impatience and excitement is palpable. It's felt by everyone I share the news with. I am going to see Incubus for the first time!!!! I'm sure that it will be an experience I will always remember. I can't wait to hear the songs that are so dear to me played live. I'll be the chic in the Orch5 level completely lost in the music....having an out of body experience.....or something close to that.
See you there, my fellow Incubus lovers........
This is Great News!!
Big moves for a hugely talented man. Congrats on the accomplishment!!!! Very interested in seeing, or rather hearing, the movie.
Wish you much success in this new endeavor.
