Success hasn't spoiled sturdy Incubus, reports Andrew Murfett.
IF INCUBUS frontman Brandon Boyd had his way, the band's next record would be given away to fans for free.
On the phone recently from his Los Angeles home, Boyd was in a contemplative mood. The Californian group became stars at home in the US after a string of radio hits in the 1990s. It was just before the arrival of Napster and illegal downloading, and a heady time to be a rock star.
Incubus emerged bearing influences of pop, alternative metal and hip-hop, unusual for mainstream rock bands — this was when Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit were selling millions of records.
Boyd believes success at this level — selling millions of records and getting heavy radio airplay — for a band like his is probably a thing of the past.

I love all their albums but S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is my favorite.
