IOV forum is so pretty nasty!

Anyways I think Ben is great and is a dude! I like his solo stuff and what incubus are doing now.

I did however and still do love Alex/Dirk as he is a truly amazing musician and bassist! I think it's important to remember weather you prefer incubus with Dirk or Ben that Dirk put a lot of hard work into incubus and wrote and helped write lots of their songs.

So it's all good and well saying you prefer incubus with Ben and what they do now. But you have to consider that Dirk was a massive part of them and they wouldn't have got to where they are now without him!

So love him or hate him, I think we all owe Dirk some gratitude and respect. I don't think it matters why he left or was kicked out thats between the band members. Thank god they carried on!

It could be to see the crowds reaction or it could just be that they are eager to play the new stuff they are working on, like little kids on Christmas.

They have totally different styles. Ben Kenney completes Incubus in my eyes. To each their own though, there are many that agree with ya.

I believe it is common knowledge that when artists are working on new music it ends up being played in concert before the album it belongs to ends up on shelves. Dave Matthews does it all the time and so do a lot of other musicians, providing that they are touring prior to the albums release, that is.

Damn, I missed all the fun. Just b/c an album isn't released doesn't mean the artist does not play some of the songs live. Seriously, that was a pretty weak argument.

Back to the topic at hand, I also love Conception and the Funeral, that has to be my favorite song by Ben.

desire to learn more about Incubus.

Yeah they played some of The Division Group stuff live, really sweet. I def. hear dollops of BB's style in Ben's recent vocals. I guess I agree to disagree
He also played guitar for The Roots, not bass. I'm glad he found a way out of The Roots, it didn't let him shine much.

I can hear Brandons vocal style in Ben's singing tenfold. The singing pitches without words and the breathing in the microphone. He also layers harmonies a lot like Brandon does. Subtle and powerful. You can also tell Ben learned a lot from Brandon too, because as his CD's progress (along with his career with incubus) you can hear more and more of it. No offense taken! I just encourage another listen

I have been hooked on his solo stuff for months and months. It's incredible! It makes me smile when I hear BB's style in Ben's solo stuff. Ben's lyrics are up there with Brandons too. SOOO good

All I know is that Incubus and The Roots are possibly the most advanced and excelled in their genres of music and Ben is all of the above. Check and check.
