What song really made you into an Incubus fan. What lyric really grabbed you and why?

I'm going with "Pardon Me" because it was the first song I ever heard of theirs and the entire first verse and then the chorus really hooked me. When I found their other songs, heard and read the lyrics I knew I had found a truly amazing band =)

A kiss to send us off!! (^_^)

Yeah, I guess, the lyrics to Drive obviously touch a lot of people, but as far as Make Yourself goes, gosh, I could easily relate to Pardon Me, the Warmth and even Make Yourself. All these songs really touch people, they have so much to say.

"Come on God, do I seem bullet-proof?"

We should start counting how many people say Drive.

"You'd feel better if you'd vent
Put your frustrations into four letter words"

I was living overseas, and this video kept comming on with a guy drawing himself into this music video and I suddenly turned the mute off and there is was "Drive". And at the time the message of the song really spoke to me and ever since I've always been touched in some way or another by the music that they make.

My favorites Incubus song are
I MISS YOU
UNDER MY UMBRELLA
I WISH YOU WERE HERE &
DIG

the lyrics of all these songs very touch me...

quicksand. that´s my fav song of them. the soft/atmospheric instrumental got me at the first heard!
And the lyrics, well... I´m pretty much like that too. that´s it!

Hello incubus fans!!!!

The song that really touched me is a certain shade of green, because it is the first song I heard from incubus,

but there are more songs that mean a lot for me

I like Redefine. I've never really followed their lyrics so for me, it's never really impacted me like a lot of people on here. I liked the groove in their sound at the time. Plus they were good players and that made it interesting to watch their live shows.

Drive is the first song I heard and still my favorite

I have a few.
1. Are you in? Is my ultimate favorite song by them!
2. Echo
3.Wish you were here
4. Dig

I know it sounds corney but my best friend and I conider Dig to be kind of "our" song.

Morning View- Are You In

*I love all their songs but this one in particular....*

This song was playing in the car my first trip to Holland. I sat in the car just taking in everything going by...it was beautiful outside. It was my first real impression of Holland. I was 16 at the time and It was just an eye opening experience for me. It was so different to be outta my element- I didn't have that comfort of being in america so it was kinda a surreal experience...also this was my first time seeing Incubus live in concert...It was the best day of my life. That song represents my trip and just a new chapter in my life at that point. Now i'm 22 going on 23 and I still say that was the best day ever...Hands Down!

I know right.

I agree lovely. I'd be like, quit your f*cking crying and get a life.

"For every one thing we're ignorant of
a thousand more things beat the maze"

I Miss You is a really sweet song!

For some reason, if it were real, and some guy was really saying that to me, i'd probably tell him to quit being a sap and get over me.
So i'm a little contradicting.

s*** happens when you party naked!

I Miss You
the lyrics are just so...i don't know... just amazing! I love this song. I made me cry when I first listened to it properly. I just love this song!

Oh man, f**k that! What's normal? MAKE YOUR OWN NORMAL!!!!

I woke up this morning and I kept singing 11 am all day, its such a great song!! man! Im gonna listen to it one more time.

"...Im Counting UFO´s..."

For me it would either have to be Mexico or Love Hurts.
I love all Incubus songs, so it's really hard for me to decide, but those both just really speak to me.
Love does hurt, it's a damn pain in the a**hole sometimes, but it's also amazing. Mexico makes me think of a time in my life when everything was terrible. My dad has always been a selfish ass, and he only visits/calls when he feels like it. I ended up with an ED and he never did anything to try to consolidate me or told me he loved me or blahblahblah. I relate excellently to that song.

Warning definetely touched me!
The lyrics to this song are so amazing! There's so much love in it and I just don't get tired of listening to Warning!
I found myself through this song!

quicksand makes me a new incubus fan. periodically there isa song that comes along that moves me and my spirit today its quicksand.

the warmth

I'm not disputing the lyrics, it is a good song. When it first came out, dare I say.... I loved it. However, that song was released in 1999, 9 years ago and it is still the only f*cking Incubus song that is guaranteed to be played in any given 24 hour period by several of the radio stations in my area. They do not play anything off of any album newer than Morning View and frankly I am so sick of hearing it. I can't stand that such an amazing band who has released 3 albums full of incredible songs since MY still is known where I live for Drive. Not to mention I'm really sick of hearing it live at this point.

"For every one thing we're ignorant of

I certainly respect your opionion....but what is it about Drive that you don't like? I personally fine it
to be an encouraging song, like when you gotta do something you really don't even want to do and you know is gonna be unpleasant.

I'm with you freesoarer. I could definitely live at an Incubus concert and never get bored (well except when they play Drive... puke)

--
"For every one thing we're ignorant of
a thousand more things beat the maze"

It had to be The Warmth that really grabbed me and made me start searching out more about
Incubus. Last summer when they performed it with an orchestra live, as well as Aqueous
Transmission, I wanted to live forever in an Incubus concert! Still do!

quicksand. honestly even at this late date, i just dont feel it. except my mother and daughter.

the warmth

He would definitely have "b*tchin' abs" when he was done.

Heh.. I don't know if BB could keep up with all of us

"I haven't felt the way I feel today in so long it's hard for me to specify"

Get in line.

"So f*ck yourself and f*ck this bleeding heart of mine"

Pardon me, cause it happened to me. i was 23 and had a fire, proof of the prizw, i swear he wrote me Anna Molly, cause of evenything i was going through, brandon I love you with all my heart and soul. Be Mine Forever, Sarah

Yeah I agree.

--
- Hey Soon Give Me Some

I love the song Breaking Benjamin did for Halo 2.

--
"So f*ck yourself and f*ck this bleeding heart of mine"

So many lyrics to count.... Many of them just struck me like, 'Wow, I don't think I could ever write anything as interesting as that even if I tried.'

"I'm beginning to notice/ how much this feels like a waking limb/ pins and needles/ nice to know you"

"A cloud hangs over and mutes my happiness/ A thousand ships couldn't sail me back from distress"

But to be honest, I'm a HC gamer and flipped when I realized that Incubus did music for Halo 2. I was surfing iTunes and saw HALO SOUNDTRACK under iMix and thought "?"

- Hey Soon Give Me Some

Pardon me would have to be the song that hooked me -

"a decade ago
i never thought i would be 23
on the verge of spontaneous combustion
woe is me"

when i first heard that i froze and thought 'wait, did he really just say that?'
been in love ever since...

--
"What I want and what I need is and will always be free"

Wish You Were Here!!!
After I heard this song I was totally lost in Incubus!
And I still am.....

--
Oh man, f**k that! What's normal? MAKE YOUR OWN NORMAL!!!!

pardon me - i just love to hear it over and over again
and sing along with the tongue twisting lines Smiling

--
blink blink blink

Pardon Me was also the very first song that I heard.
I immediately feel in love with the man's voice.
And the lyrics I've had enough of this world and it's people's mindless games
were what hooked me even more, seeing how I was in high school
and we all know the never ending drama of that phase in our lives.

I find it amusing, though, that I didn't really find out what he looked like
until after I had downloaded and listened to a lot of their songs.
(With that I mean, the ones that had come out until 2000.)
[Fungus Amoungus, Enjoy Incubus, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Make Yourself]
And even then, I thought he was not that great.

I fell in love with his brain and his looks just
happened to transform to my liking then, *laughs*. ^_^
