Okay, so everyone knows that music is so powerful that it can change your mood, give you new perspective and enrich your life but has a song ever had such powerful and profound lyrics that it actually made you cry? Whether it be a single tear or full out bawling, list the songs that have had that effect on you. Here are mine....
Goodnight Saigon- Billy Joel (it is about the Vietnam War)
I'd post a quote, but it's the whole song and his voice that does it.
Slow Decay- Dashboard Confessional (it is about living with the acts of war)
he sings this part so powerfully that you really think about what soldiers have to live with after war.
"It's the simple things dad, I'm not hurt, I'm not dead,
I just should be where my friends are lying
And I didn't hate those that I killed but they're all dead now
But I'm here alive with satellites and Friday nights
And no one to judge me for the things that I've done at all
So how can I live with that?"
Hurt- Christina Aguilera (it is about regret and not being able to right a wrong)
Don't Drink The Water- Dave Matthews Band (it's about how the English treated the Native Americans when they came to America)
"Now as I rest my feet by this fire
Those hands once warmed here, but I have retired them.
I can breathe my own air and I can sleep more soundly
Upon these poor souls,
I'll build heaven and call it home.
Cause you're all dead now."
Tears In Heaven- Eric Clapton (it's about meeting a person you lost in heaven)
It reminds me of my dad.
I think that's it. Sorry to say BB has never written anything that brought me to tears, although I do think he is a great writer.
Now everyone play nice!!!

I was really having an up day last week, things were flowing nicely. When I got home I put in
an Incubus cd and was just relaxing and listening to the music. "Just a phase" came on and
next thing i know i'm getting all weepy. Brandon just sounds so beautiful in the intro of the
song. At least it was a cry from happiness, not sadness.
Christina Aguilera: Hurt
Because it reminded me of my granddad who died a few years ago.
Incubus: I Miss You
I can't exactly tell you why it made me cry but it's just an amazing song and I had to cry when I first listened properly!

I can't believe they won't play that song live anymore. I think Incubus should follow suit and stop playing Drive. That would be sweet.

"...Im Counting UFO´s..."
You Have My Attention-Copeland
My best friend use to play it for me all of the time when we were really close. He was the only person I have ever loved, and I regret every minute of it(although I do not regret having regrets). Three years of the closest friendship I ever had went straight down the tubes in a big crappy way.
Weather Reports-Bright Eyes
This song is the most painful song I will ever listen to. I listened to bright eyes a lot last year, and it reminds me of my best friend, the nasty little eating disorder I acquired(which destroyed many of my friendships), and the days when I use to do speed. Every time I listen to this song it literally makes my heart hurt.
Amber-311
I move around a lot, i've moved 11 times in my very short sixteen years, and i've lived all over the united states, this song makes me think of my childhood and summertime and how everything was constantly changing for me.
On My Own-The Used
The Used use to be my favorite band (before branden steineckert left and their music turned to s***), and this song makes me think of my brother. He got really hard into drugs when he turned sixteen and when he was seventeen he was forced to go live in California with my father. It was the first time I ever had to live without my brother.
Mexico-Incubus
Even though I love this song more than most, and it is a beautiful song, it just reminds me of terrible times. I hate that it does that, because it is amazing, but I can't help but think about my father and crappy times.

Never Give Up
Oh Tears in Heaven definitely! Nothing Else Matters, One - Metallica, Echo (but happy tears) and Dig when I'm missing people.. and this sounds stupid but if anyone knows the song Wrinkles by John Williamson (Aussie country singer) it cracks me up something chronic.. it reminds me of my Grandpa. When I hear it I don't get over it for days
i have never cried because of a song, except for 'death is not the end' by bob dylan.
reminds me of my grandmother.
--
so tonight we drink to youth.
bad day - fuel

i heard it just now and i am tearing very much. xD

Did you get yours, babe?"
Alicia21 told me the name of a song that I posted the lyrics of...

"I haven't felt the way I feel today in so long it's hard for me to specify"
Oh yeah, and Brandon Boyd has made me cry, especially if I've had a bad day.... The Warmth just can make me weep hard, when it says, " not everybody is f***ed up and cold". The sense of hope that the Warmth gives me, makes me sob happy tears, to not give up.
Anytime I listen to Linkin Park's song Hands Held High, I cry. It's Mike rapping about what a shambles our country is in, the Iraq war, our joke of a president, our horrible economic condition:
"take back what's yours, say something you know they might attack you for, cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before, like it's stupid standing for what I'm standing for, like this war's really just a different brand of war, like it doesn't cater to rich and abandon poor, like they understand you in the back of the jet, when you can't put gas in your tank, and these f***ers are laughing their way to the bank, cashing the check, asking you to have compassion, have respect for a leader so nervous in a obvious way, stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay, and the rest of the world watching at the end of the day, in their living room laughing like, what did he say" Yup, chokes me up real good.
Shissou - Last Alliance

I'm confused. Mistress boyd, who were you talking to?

My intention a bullet my body a trigger finger."
Thank you Alicia!

"Lately I'm beginning to find that when I drive myself my life is found"
.hack//Legend of Twilight - (See Saw) Emerald Green [ED]
Sad song.
