I think a greatest hits album happens years after they have stopped writing new songs or can't write new songs and also not touring anymore. And need to generate some money or interest. I wouldn't say it would never happen though. You never know. I would think when their in their 50s or 60s maybe.
but I think greatest hits are usually the ones that made it as a single
not for sure don't quote me.
