the day of the concert finally came! i’m glad they didn’t cancel this time. kudos to java musikindo for bringing them to jakarta. i’ve been so anxious for god knows how long to see incubus. finally, the waiting was over!
i’m sorry to say this but the stage was very standard. actually, kind of disappointing cus they didn’t decorate the background or anything. but that thought of mine quickly disappeared as soon as they started to play the first song, "quicksand". i had the feeling that song was gonna be the opening song. it had that sound that builds up the mood.
the funny and amazing thing was when incubus came out, hundreds of phones and digicam rose up to take pictures and videos, including mine. i was looking down at an ocean of little blue screen during night time. it was cute.
i was so psyched when they played "pistola"! i love that song. it’s my fav of the moment. anyways, it was a nice surprise when they did "the warmth" cus i didnt expect that. but i was a bit disappointed that they didnt do "i miss you". why not, guys?...
the crowd was great when they played "are you in?". they sang along to it perfectly. it’s an easy breezy song, kinda pop-ish but always fun. tee-hee.
they ended the show with "aqueous transmission".. i kinda knew they were going to play that last. my thought was, "they’d probably play this song last cus it has an asian sound to it, and they thought we might like it?" i’m just guessing, but honestly, i dont really like that song.
i have to give props for the lighting. it was perfect! loved it.
i got some good pics and great videos. yay! though getting the digicam in was a bit scary but i had a few tricks under my sleeve. at first i thought of hiding it in my bra, but it wouldve been very obvious that something was hidden cus my boobs wouldnt have looked even.
a friend suggested to hide it in my pants, and i’m like, "then i would look like i have a ’u-know-what’." i skipped her idea straight away. i ended up stashing it in the pocket of my jacket that i stuffed in a plastic bag. it worked, i got through.
a better sound system would’ve helped the concert a lot. it’s just unfortunate that brandon’s voice sounded kind of odd during certain songs.. sorry, brandon. the bass was a bit "blah" cus of the lame speakers or lack of them. hopefully, they’ll be given better equipments next time they come here.
and hopefully the band could be more intimate and interactive next time. i dont know if that’s their style but the concert felt kind of.. well, cold.
maybe they experienced the disasterous traffic of jakarta on their way from the airport to the hotel. i’m just guessing but jakarta’s traffic can seriously damage people’s mind about this city. in a lighter note, jakarta is a wonderful city if u can look pass through the traffic.
overall, i give the concert a 7 but my happiness to see the band is definitely a 10!
if i wrote anything that might offend the band or the fans, i do apoligize. i’m just telling the truth, which is always good in my book.
