hai my name is fira, i just want to share my feeling for this band!
i've been waiting to watch incubus concert for almost 7 years,i always watch their latest dvd concert to see how its feel to be in it.i've been wishing for so long till they decided to come to Jakarta-Indonesia 3 days ago.
but what i got was a really big disappointed. they really rocks and really handsome too. but instead of being friendly like i watch on dvd they really not that really friendly i mean it was a very very horrible attitude i though they will make a great connection with their fans in indonesia but what i got is they just think that we are a stupid country who doesn't understand english!.
i read on the daily news paper quote: " i really enjoy playing here in jakarta, i mean they didn't know the meaning of our song but they can sing it properly" -brandon boyd
it was a shocking what do you thing we are?? some sort of retarded country!
i'm your biggest fans and we all do in here. why you treated us like this?? from the beginning till the end of the concert you guys not even say a nice hello and a sincer good bye?!
why please tell me why?
i am really disappointed.i hope you guys didn't treat your fans from other country like that!
thanks

Fira, I wouldn't be offended by what Brandon said. All the guys are very nice and gracious towards their fans, even if Brandon doesn't seem to be a bit of a chatterbox when it comes to talking during the shows.
Honestly, I think the interview could be a "lost in translation" problem. Sometimes when translating into different languages, some things can be taken out of context and misinterpreted. I wouldn't be offended by what Brandon said, because I don't think he would ever intend to insult or say anything mean intentionally to his fans.

If I hadn't assembled myself, I'd have fallen apart by now..
I wanted to see Incubus to hear music live!
I could care less about what BB has to say. x)

You can always tell when he's had a little too much wine. He becomes very talkative and funny.

I was at the first show of their last tour. I was really sad because Brandon didn't really interact with the crowd at all. The time I saw Incubus prior to this he was probably drunk because he was more talkative and into the crowd. The show in Tucson, he seemed stand-offish and kinda to the point... However, it was their opening show of the tour. The show I saw in Mesa about a month later, they seemed to have found their groove and were more inclined to talk to the crowd.

Yeah, did you pay money to have a converstion, or listen to the music you love the band for? And thanks for that onstage interview, Rainbow. Dirk's comments about Jose turning his drum kit sideways cracked me up. I so agree with their comments about when they would fight and they would have the best show ever because of it sometimes. I LOVE Ben, but I also miss the feel of the music they created with Dirk.
And about this board..
I don't blame Incubus!
You spelt disappointment wrong anyway. x)
(i know i spelt it wrong but who cares ja)

So I noticed.

First time I saw INCUBUS here in Manila back in 2004, for the album ACLOTM, Brandon was joking and stuff in between songs. He even said "salamat" (thank you in tagalog) a number of times. But that's not the case with their 2nd show here last March 9. He said a few thank you's and that's it. I got to meet them though, with some friends (incubus street team philippines). And they are really really cool!
Just think of it as: less talk, more action!

A life shared is a life worth living
hi, fira.
i completely understand about them being a bit cold at the concert. my cousins and i felt the same way too but i'm sure they have a good reason as to why they were like that, whatever it is. still, i do wish they were more intimate. even though they say that it's not their style, as fans and humans, we expected an unforgetable experience from both the music and the band.
i'm curious about the newspaper that has the interview where brandon said, "i really enjoy playing here in jakarta, i mean they didn't know the meaning of our song but they can sing it properly." can u tell me which newspaper and when was it published? thanks.
focus on the positive thing. they came, didnt they? be glad they didnt cancel on us like they did in 2006. i do have to i agree with the rest that they gave an awesome performance.
You must really like that quote.

BB not interacting much with the crowd comes from his not feeling too comfortable talking to fans. Here is an interview excerpt I found, full interview is here: http://www.onstagemag.com/ar/performance_incubus_rocking_upbeat/index.ht...
Brandon, how have you developed as a singer and front man over the years?
Boyd: I've gotten a little more comfortable onstage — not in the sense of knowing how to work the stage or the crowd better, because I don't do that. In fact, I don't really want to be good at working the crowd. I'd like to remain a little nervous. I want people to come to our shows and be able to laugh at us for the fact that — although we know how to do what we do — we're still kids like the rest of them. I don't want to be up there with a hundred rock anecdotes, talking about what we did after a show. All that stuff is characteristic of a band that's recognized because of its personality. We'd much rather people concentrate on the music.
But when I see the singers who are great at working the crowd, part of it's endearing. It's great that they're good at it. I've never been good at it. I have no idea what to say sometimes between songs. Sometimes I'll just make noises because I don't know what to say and I'm nervous. But when the song starts, I know exactly what to do. In that sense, I've become more comfortable.

don worry fira,im sure he din mean anything negative by it... these boys r inteligent n im damn sure they dont make stupid assumptions like tat.... he may have meant it in a totally beautiful n positive way.... i knw it can be hurtful... but sometimes the way things r being phrased may mean a totally different thing to the reader... knw wat i mean.... jus try to take it positively... i knw mrs.kuchiki.... id like to see them have more crowd interaction as well but some ppl jus cant do it... they can do wat theyr good at which is performing their music... maybe crowd interaction is not part of their portfolio... get wat i mean?... tats jus my 2 cents worth... their performance is still off the hooks.....
Fira, the last time they were in Malaysia, they commented how animated and cool head veils (tudung) wearing girls rocking to their music! lol.. so, am sure they're pretty nice guys. perhaps Brandon meant to say he was impressed with how multilingual (or at least bilingual) we are in this side of the world. cheer up, mate. u got to see incubus in concert. that's a cool thing already. i reckon it's just the way they are on stage. i doubt they're the bubly, interactive kinda band. brandon might be thinking about cheese when he' s on stage... ba dum cha..
Forget how good they are on stage.
I'd like to see them interact with the fans, ja.

I think what he said is being taken wrong. He has commented before that when in countries where the citizens do not speak English, there is a lot lost in translation. I'm sure his comments had nothing to do with the intelligence level of the people they were playing for. Besides, how do you know the person who wrote down the comment got it right?
He also said that the band does not want to be known for their personalities or stage antics, they want to be known for their live musical performances, and for them that's what it is all about.

THE INCUBUS CONCERT SEPTEMBER 2ND LAST YEAR...
HE AND THE BAND DIDN'T SOCIALISE WITH THE FANS!!!
Stupid bastards. T_T

Hey Fira..cheer up! i agree with jazvin - i bet Incubus really put up a good performance for you guys!
as for the comment, i don't think he meant it in a bad way. i mean the band only got to visit your country for such a short period of time so they probably never got a chance to really get to know the culture and the people of Indonesia. Brandon's human too and we're all prone to saying silly things at times.. so don't brood over it ya?
don't let that comment ruin the experience you had!
Oh and just for the record, I had been waiting for them to come for almost 7 years too and I was pretty bummed out cuz they hardly connected to the audience when the came down here. Anyway, despite all that, they still sounded amazing live so, let's just try to focus on that
Cheer up Fira.
Ouch. I can't believe he said that. Omg..
Damn. o=
