According to the above title on this page, I'm suppose to "Submit Why I'm A Fan".

No, no, no!! You see good little children of Enjoy Incubus, I am not a fan. I do not label myself as a fan. And I refuse to be summed up in a lump with "fans".

Now don't get me wrong. I don't consider myself better or superior to the "fans" in any way. I am just not like them. I am not of the same thought as them.

Incubus is my salvation. Brandon Boyd my saviour. Seriously. You've no idea just how many times this band and this man have saved my mind from the darkest pits of depression. You've no idea how many times this band and this man have motivated me to keep forward, to not give up, to not give in. You've got no idea.

I know, a lot of you will say, "It was the same for me!" and yes, I believe you, because I went through it. Yet I still don't consider myself the same as you. We're not, obviously. We're all individuals. But I don't consider myself a part of the "fans" group.

I don't own all the Incubus CD's [yet] or DVD's [again, yet]. I don't have a lot of their merchandise or posters or Brandon's books [yet]. I haven't been to one of their concerts, unfortunately, or have the money to do so anytime soon. A lot of people, because of this, would say "Psh, then you're not a true fan. And to them I say:

f*** You. Owning their material doesn't make you a better "fan" than the rest. You know what truly makes you a "fan". Listening to the message. Understanding the message. But most importantly, Following the message. And not only from their songs, but from their actions as well.

Why am I a follower? Because they've given meaning to my life. Because they've shown me that, even though this is an ugly world, if we all unite, we can make it a better place. Because they've brought me back from being dead while still breathing. They've given me life.

And I'll follow them to the end of the world because of that.
