i appreciate this quote:

"I can't criticize what I don't understand. If you want to call this art, you've got the benefit of all my doubts."
-- Charles Rosin

my blogs are still here! thank goodness. well this quarter is just about done. i'm kind of sad it's over, but i'm ready for summer. i have lots planned and am looking forward to summer school. i will be studying poetry under a renowned poet and am hoping to also seek the mentorship of a "master of the short story." superb. i have a hefty reading list, and a number of things i am to write and draft. i'm very happy to have decided on creative writing. one of the best decisions i've ever made and boy, was it a hard one to make.

i miss the kids already but i'll continue to teach poetry lessons in the coming school year. there is also a possibility that i will teach children art as well. i'm stoked. i still want to be a screenwriter, kids just have a very special place in my heart. i love their energy and uninhibited nature. there was one girl in particular that i encouraged throughout the past year. she was very soft-spoken but was a brilliant writer. she gradually opened up and became much more confident in herself. on the last day all of the kids were running around, asking for all of our autographs and i signed their papers and wrote little notes like "you rock!" "poetry rules!" "keep writing!" i think i told her "you're brilliant! keep writing!" i walked away to sign other children's notebooks and she came back to me, tucked a folded up piece of paper into my hand and gave me a hug. i opened it once i had left the classroom and it said "tiana i will always rimember you!"

that is why i do what i do. to know i impacted one talented little girl's is all i need.

i've been listening to a lot of queen, the police, zepplin, the clash and many others lately. i've also been fascinated with classical/instrumental music. i like things that can get across to others in a universal way.

time for bed. this is full of grammatical errors that i will fix tomorrow!

yours,
tiana
