Incubus: My Love of the Pendulous Threads

I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...

Essentially, Incubus are rad. God damn rad. And here is why:

The first CD I got was "Make Yourself" back when I was in high school, and I just loved their dynamic use of percussion, and of course Mike's mad guitar effects and delays. They just have such a rich and eclectic sound; you listen to their tracks again and again and it seems as though each time you listen you can unveil a new layer in their sound. I find their lyrics both insightful and thought-provoking; I like that when you read them, there are layers of subtext and deeper meaning, much like the music in which they are layered upon.

I am delighted with their new album "Light Grenades". It is just so refreshingly left of centre, and profound in its complexity both lyrically, and musically. I find the track "Dig" ridiculously euphoric; it takes me to a place of beaches and sun and sand and friends. I also love "pendulous threads". The title of this track reflects how the music seems to be woven throughout this album, like so many pulsing, pendulous threads of light and depth.

Basically I am keen as a bean to see them live. I have not as yet had the pleasure of indulging in such a privilege.

With any luck, the boys will head to Oz and play for us sometime soon. I know they would be ridiculously well-received here.
