Reviews for this Album

I love this Albums Very much!! Laughing out loud
Incubus NEVER Disappointed me!! Laughing out loud

Good Luck you guys!! :3

I was probably the biggest Incubus fan out there UNTIL now !!

Adolescents is great but there are another 5 or so half decent tracks and the rest are simply poor !

Bearing in mind ....I loved Light Grenades and enjoyed Brandon's solo album as well .

Cant believe that THIS has taken 5 years !!

I actually prefer Incubus's softer side as well !!

Incredible album! I love hearing all the different sounds and elements just flow together... it is not a disappointment at all and I will always have an open mind and appreciation for them and the music. Every album over time has been so well and silk in my opinion, I do love my heavy Incubus but it really touches the heart and soul listening to (and feeling) the slower, more intimate experience. Everyone in the band is like family to me, and I can listen to them everyday, every track, because there is not one song they have ever created that I dislike... except for the ones that I wish would never end. -_- Thank you for being true to yourself, your fans, and the love of music. Incubus will always be a huge part of my life and I want people to feel the same way.. if not now, when will they? It's been a loooong time, and I don't want it to be over anytime soon.

WOW!!! I completely agree with NYJSullivan. Took the words right out of my mouth!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new album. My pre-ordered copy just arrived from Amazon.

I instantly got goosebumps listening to The Original. Beautiful!

Brandon's voice is lush throughout and the band have definately experimented on this one.

I can't understand why people are complaining that the album isn't another Light Grenades and that the band are trying a new mellower sound. In the last five years I sure as hell have changed - there have been babies and weddings, I've lost friends (and a job), generally gone through life's ups and downs. Presumably the band will have changed too - and that has to be reflected in their creative output, surely?

Been a fan for 15 years and I'm not going anywhere!

I love it.

It has come at the perfect moment of my life. When filthy windows sudden explode with rays of light. Rather than cleaning the windows I have just decided to remove the walls. I believe change is coming to the world and Incubus can be scripture.

Everyone raves over the greats, Bob, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bowie, Hendrix. But these 5 men are among the great for our generation. Don't be too cool for school kids, listen closely.

So happy that I got the pre-sale!!! Incubus has been and always be my favorite!! Love you guys!! You have no idea what you all have done for me Smiling)))))

Alexis Woods

I totally love this album it's so different to anything else that incubus has ever released but there is no point in making record after record that sounds the same.
If not now, when? is a fantastic album opener and the songs that follow just flow so well together
well done on another great record and can't wait to see you guys on tour in scotland!!!

What the f***! First listen is my last listen, there is too much creativity out there to waste time justifying why I should like this effort. Long live Incubus, just keep playing your good stuff please.

i love this albums, nice work guys..you always made a different from albums to albums..see you guys on 26 july @ JAKARTA - INDONESIA

I Like I.N.C.U.B.U.S The New Album IF NOT NOW, WHEN?

bY KaKasih Choji... Available Now The Album INCUBUS

I absolutely love the different sound and they're new approach because they haven't lost the INCUBUS sound and feel. Like they said its like a big love letter to the world. STILL a HUGE fan and always will be!

This is an amazingly intelligent and gorgeous album. Five stars!!! Incubus will always be my favorite band!

I just got my copy of the album just now here in Manila, Philippines. I'll return for the review once I've listened to the songs. I'm so happy. Smiling

I'm glad to see that so many of you have expressed the same [wonderful] feelings towards this album! I LOVE IT!! Of course I am supportive of EVERYTHING they've ever done, but I have to say, I've never felt this much emotion from an album of theirs. I actually cried listening to it, and even though I'm a woman, I don't like admitting that! Smiling Awesome job, fellas!

I am 100% in love with this album. I love the new direction and new tone. Awesome vocals, guitars, effects, drums its all just great! Morning View has been my favorite album and this one I feel is quite close in comparison. Bonus Track Surface To Air is also awesome. Light Grenades and CLOTM had some great tracks but wasn't a fan of every track on the album like I am with this album. For any true Incubus fan - I have no idea how you couldn't be more than than excited about this album all the way through.

Wow! I have listened to the new CD all day at work.... just kept hitting "play"! Lyrics are amazing, Brandon's voice is so strong and true, instrumentals are creative and powerful. I LOVE "If Not Now, When..." as the intro and "Switchblade" is fabulous. In fact, I haven't heard a song that I don't love. The ballad style is a great balance to the powerful rock sounds of my favorite Incubus songs from previous albums... nice to see that they are experimenting with new sounds, but still keeping the interesting melody lines. I haven't been lucky enough to see them live yet.... and I probably won't get to this tour either.... %$#@*

What I absolutely love about this album, and what makes up for whatever you may find wrong with the music, is that it speaks of true love (the kind that takes very long to form, but then lasts forever); without fear and without making it sound cheesy. Let me share something I've written a long time ago, if you can forgive me for the awkward stanzas Smiling, because it best expresses how I feel about this subject:

"Your name has become too laughable to speak out loud
People have got used to keeping you locked within the blackest tower
Safe behind their castle walls, far away from evil crowds

And I have no one left to share my faith with
And I have learned to call you, like them, without words
Then wonder why you never come
I wonder why you’re always slipping out of reach
But I swear I need you more than any time before

These days, only empty brains are walking in the streets
Lost, and dizzy from the speed of the spinning world, they hurry home
And find refuge at the warmth of their hearth, careful not to judge

And I have no one left to share my faith with
And I have learned to call you, like them, without words
Then wonder why you never come
I wonder why you’re always slipping out of reach
But I swear I need you more than any time before

When you appear to share your light with me, my concealed friend
I will let you enter my heart gladly, and then proudly sing my song
But please come soon, because I’m being drained of strength

And I have no one left to share my faith with
And I have learned to call you, like them, without words
Then wonder why you never come
I wonder why you’re always slipping out of reach
But I swear I need you more than any time before”

While I've only ever considered myself a fanboy of very few things Incubus is one of them. Other than Earth to Bella they've never made a song that I didn't like. I love the hard stuff, I love the mellow. I like some songs on this album, but it is by far the only one that isn't great. Which makes me sad. I understand people saying they like it and they can't just do the same thing over and over. My argument is that they've NEVER done the same thing over and over. Every album has always sounded VERY different from the last without losing the feel of Incubus. There are songs here that if I didn't already know what I was listening to I would not be able to recognize it as Incubus. The album gets off to an amazing start with the title track (one of my new favorite songs ever!), Promises, promises, and Friends and Lovers. Thieves is... pretty good. Isadore has some of my least favorite lyrics ever. I was so in love with The Original my first listen until that atrocious guitar break. Einziger is capable of amazing things. That just sounds awful to me. Throughout the album it sometimes feels like he just didn't know what to do with some of these songs. Defiance is by far the worst song they've ever made. In the Company of Wolves is really a great song, and is divided almost perfectly in half with the change in the middle. Its amazing. Switchblade is ok but I just can't get into it. The word switchblade is not so great a word that it needs repeated that many times. Adolescents is one of my favorite hits by them ever, and I could harly get through Tomorrow's Food, which is upsetting, because the lyrics are so good.
It sounds harsh sometimes I know, and it pains me to speak negatively of anything Incubus. Maybe if they hadn't been so good to me for so long, I wouldn't be so hard on If not now, when? The feeling of being disappointed by my favorite band was something I thought impossible, which really bothers me, because you can sense that they put in the effort. All said, I like 6 songs from this one, especially the title track. But 5 songs I borderline/absolutely hate. I do hope they make another, and not 5 years away.
I still love you Incubus, and I'll be in Indy on August 23rd to see you live for the 14th time, and I'm just as excited as I ever was. This one just didn't do it for me. My wife and I, all my brothers and sisters, my daughter, and my friends all love you.

This has become my new favorite album.

Another lovely work of art boys. ...."i feel like we'd walk well together, because in the end, we are friends & lovers" ... amazing, period.

Perfection. I love Incubus.. and the fact that their plether of albums can sound so different yet please in different ways every time only makes me admire them more. If not now, when? is a beautiful compilation which IMO, begins and ends absolutely perfectly, with almost every song in between delivering. I am a bit surprised people have been critical, but not surprised that the main stream pop song billboard seekers are. This album has a lot of soul and the songs are deep and catchy- but they might take a few listens to dig in for some.. it definitely leaves me wanting more..especially of you, Mike. Don't make us wait 5 more years, please! See you @ Jones Beach in September!!! I love Incubus!

It's not who you were, It's who you are

Einziger you are absolutely genius on Tomorrow's Food..genius

It's not who you were, It's who you are

I love this album, it's abosultely beautiful. I've been spinning it for days now and I'm only falling more and more in love with it. Billboard seekers should probably keep it moving, as only true Incubus fans are going to really appreciate this masterpiece. SCIENCE was like 20 years ago.. get over it. Appreciate the music they have made in the past, but the present is also wonderful, and I look forward to the future. Incubus is the most underrated band of all time. Thank you Incubus.

It's not who you were, It's who you are

Amazing album, never disapoint with you guys...is different but the music sounds very good. My favorite . In the company of Volves...I see you in the Europe tour. Wait impatiently...Thank you very much for good music.

I've been a fan of Incubus since their "Make Yourself" album. They are one of the bands that I truly look forward to hearing new music from. As a musician myself (drummer), I've never had a problem with bands expanding their musical horizons. Having said that, I think this new album is a brilliant piece of musical work, and would go so far as to say possibly "Grammy" worthy. I do tend to like the more "energetic" music from Incubus, and even though this album is more on the mellower side, the songwriting and musicality is their best, by far! I've been listening to this new album daily, and find it to be almost hypnotic-like. A+++ on this one guys!

I've been into Incubus for a while and i'll admit, its not their best album in my opinion. But i do really enjoy "if not now, when?" The album is soothing and their lyrics clever, as always. I really liked "in the company of wolves". I swear the first time i heard it i thought i was listening to pink floyd.

You have to realize that Incubus is one of the most creative bands out there and unlike most bands, every album has its own completely different vibe. Its almost as if they have evolved into a different band since their breakthrough "make yourself".

Even if you don't care for the album, you should definately check them out live, as they put on a hell of a concert!

this new album is amazing!
its different from all there other albums but I still love it because they are unique band.
most of the songs I can just relate to with the lyrics, especially the song "Promises,Promises"
Incubus never disappoints me ^_^.
I got this album the second day it came out and I was having such a blah day and I can tell you once I started playing it my mood change to REALLY EXCITED lol.
I want to say to Incubus that "yall did a GREAT job with making this album and I thank yall for the music that yall have made throughout the 20 years. The songs have been an inspiration and yall as a band are an inspiration! I really do appreciate the time it took with each song yall have wrote and created to give the world something to enjoy."
MAN and am I STOKED to see them for the first time this year in concert!
it will be a life experience!

-Courtney

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Incubus is the only band who can break through different genres. I know this new album is a bit too mellow to some of their fans. I think that's their edge from other bands, they can get away with it!

I'm so sick of reading/hearing comments from people that they want the "old incubus" sound back! The fans are growing old with the band and I think it's that transition that really makes them so unique and awesome. Let's all move on because surely Incubus has. I think they'd be a boring band if they didn't change constantly.

I LOVE EACH ALBUM! If Not Now, When? is just as good as the rest.

Brandon is such a good song writer and for each album they release, it's as if he talks to me. haha!

MY FAVORITE FROM THIS NEW ALBUM is "THE ORIGINAL" ... I really hope they play it this Thursday on their CONCERT in MANILA!

I'M SO EXCITED!!!

Smiling Thanks guys for yet another FABULOSO album. I was a little taken back at the more calming, relaxing flowy feel of this one. I do however enjoy the softer touch it showcases more of Brandon's beautiful, INTOXICATING voice <3 mmmm....mmmmm.....mmmm *sigh*<3 The melodies are very soothing lets me lose myself for a moment. I can hardly wait to see ya'll in Phoenix so pleased you are coming during a cooler month Eye-wink Love you guys I am a fan for life!!! Incubus....Incubus.....Incubus.....

<3 Incubus

Holy wow! You guys never cease to amaze me with every album you put out. I've found that Incubus, more so than any other band I've followed and listened to, has been able to creatively expand their music to a new genre(s) from every single album to the next, while still maintaining a core of great writing. I mean who could ever predicted an album like this back in the good old S.C.I.E.N.C.E. days? I feel that most musicians/bands who attempt to experiment with their art, compared to those moderate artists who sound the same on every album, really put their careers on the line. Just like speaking out on politics or religion could potentially result in losing or gaining fans, so could a radical change in genre/style from one album to the next. Clearly you guys are talented enough to have written commercial hits to fill every album, but instead you guys let your creativity run wild and you wear your true colors like a badge. I have so much respect for you guys and really hold you as one of my greatest inspirations as an artist myself.
The master is amazing on the album, to all other fans: if you havent listened to this album through on surround sound, go do it right now. Your mind will be blown.
I wish the lyrics were included, Brandon's writing is always great on page as well as in the sound waves. But maybe there was a reason for leaving them out of the book...?
Favorite songs: Isadore - Defiance - Promises, Promises
But all in all, great work guys! I cant wait to see you on tour, hopefully your coming to Merriweather Post Pavilion (DC/MD) again!

Much love,
George Janouris

so sad i was not able to see your concert in manila...but for sure you guys will come back.. i hope next time i'm not gonna miss it.. see you soon..
as usual incubus made a masterpiece through this album.. you guys are still rushing through my blood for almost 12 years and will always be.. long live incubus!!

Very romantic- very artful- fave song; the title song; second- second half company of wolves; 3rd- The original.
Brandon- you are growing up.

If you think this album is good, you are A: a girl, or B: dumb as s***. Take a listen to Science or A Crow Left of the Murder and you can tell they half assed this one. Light grenades was the beginning of the end. Incubus is only releasing albums to make money anymore, and they can do that because they've made some very unique music. But if you're in love with this album, I hope you get beat up. I still love Incubus, just not their last two albums. I still love them enough to see them Sep 10th at the Susquehana bank center. I just pray to every imaginary god that they dont waste time playing their smiley glad hand acoustic music, and play the old s*** I grew up on. End of story.

first of all this album really really bummed me out......i had alot of high hopes and they got shut down...this album is really more like a brandon boyd cd then an incubus album....no rocking, funk ripping, toxic bong ripps from the mouth of a volcano kind of sound...like they had on the past albums.....and i just thought im not gonna type anymore cause im so dissapointed by this album.................PLEASE INCUBUS TRY TO MAKE AN INCUBUS ALBUM......NOT A BRANDON BOYD ALBUM.

I am no fan of no one and never write reviews about anything. But I think I just just plant my little seeds because most of my friends dislike this new album.

I dont. I have got all your albums and the accoustic sessions and more. It is true that this album is very different than the others, but I kinda grew up with u guys (musically) and I find that soul progresses and nothing is permanent.

Keep up.

I have been an Incubus fan for a very long time. I have yet to be dissapointed. This new album has a completly different sound and I like it. It bothers me to see people down their new music, I say if you truly loved Incubus you wouldnt be so rude. If you are capable of making a better cd then prove it. Now that I have ranted a bit I love the new album and hope to see many more! Smiling

I'm a fan from INCUBUS since the album SCIENCE and I can se how the group evolved. It's thruth that this album sounds different, but it is a good album. Perhaps not the best but good. Other members say that this album is for girls, sorry girls also listen good music. A soft and relax music to listen with time.
The members of the group are represented well there, open your ears. I wait to see their concert

I luv you guys. INCUBUS FOR EVER

I just love the album! It has a really cool sound!

Can't wait 'til November; Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam!!

Just got this from the Zune Marketplace and will also be getting the hard copy because I HAVE to own that too. Omg. You guys have struck me once more. There is not a song on here that I do not like. I'm touched and calmed with each one in some way. Of course I'm going to love some songs more than others and play them until my ears bleed. But so far? I'm a kitten with heavy cream and a treat for years to last her. Thank you Incubus. I needed Him and you today. And both have come through to uplift my spirits. Win.

I am so in love with the lyrics and music. I jam out to Incubus every single day as I'm preparing or driving to work.

all incubus albums are great, including this one. they will go down as one of the best band ever.

I would like to see a DOUBLE ALBUM of creative genius.????

t--dawg,

thanks for all the good music

Stellar...

I absolutely love this album. It speaks to my soul but then again Brandon has always been able to reach that special part of me. I am just so grateful that he is able to be so open and honest and able to share himself so freely with the rest of us. I believe that are just a few who actually are able to get it, this journey we call life, Brandon is special and he has been able to figure out a few parts of it and he is gifted enough to be able to write and put it all into words. I got it when it first came out and I have loved and appreciated every song in it. I just love how open his mind is and how is able to express himself through his music and art so fluidly it spins a magical web that I just love to be caught up into. So I highly recommend it!!!!

I adore this album as much as all the others. If Not Now, When? gave me goosebumps, I can't wait to hear this live!!!

The softer side did take a bit of getting used to (but only after being played twice). It's beautiful, meaningful and really quite powerful.

I've never been to see them live, I am in November and CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

Smiling x

I will see you in Dallas b****es! Good luck your gonna need it!!

This album was just amazing.
I love how the music they sing gets older and more clam as they do to.
I am a fan for life.

I.F.E
Signing off.
