Have you ever listened to Incubus? I dont me just hear the music and hum along to the lyrics. Have you listened and felt Incubus? Do you get the chills and tears to Incubus songs that touch your bones? Incubus has been my favorite band for, I'd say, 7 years or so. Not just because of the gentle melodies, but because of the feeling you get as you hear Brandon spill his sincere lyrics from his gut to the microphone with such technique yet rawness. I enjoy Incubus because of the way Mike's finger tickle his guitar and vibrates my bones with amazing riffs that make my insides dance. How Jose keeps his drums at just the right tempo, beating in unison with my heart as I try not to explode with an emmense sense of uphoria. I love how Chris finds incredible but unexpected timing to add his turntable scratches, giving each song a different edge. And Ben, using his bass to pound the intense emotion of every song into the core of your being. I love the lyrics that aren't completely obvious. I love the music that is calm enough for my mother, but hard enough for me.
I have been lucky enough to see Incubus in concert once. The entire time, I had to push back tears of joy, excitement, and pure bliss. I love to watch thier facial expressions and body language to tell me how they percieve thier music, and what they feel when they play it. I respect thier honesty, work eithic, playfulness, and vision. They are an amazing group of people with an incredible talent, yet thier heads have not exploded. I hope that someday I can have the privilage to meet this amazing men and acquire a stronger sense of what the world is to them and thier music.
And that is why I am a fan of Incubus!
